(Infection & Immunity: Innate Immunity – Host & Pathogen, Antifungal Host Response) - Scientists and physicians of the Innsbruck campus, working in the related fields of Infection, Immunity, Transplantation and/or Biogerontology decided to join forces and created a structured and multidisciplinary research and training programme of excellence.
Their intention is to cooperatively and synergistically investigate genetic and environmental parameters which destroy the immune homeostasis during host-pathogen interaction, thereby leading to opportunistic infections. All 7 faculty members contribute to various aspects of host-pathogen interaction, comprising inherited and acquired immunity. Bacteria, fungi and viruses are employed as model organisms to study evasion and dysregulation of the host's immune response.
